This 4th of July you can show your spirit by wearing a fun flag pin that you can make yourself.  This is an easy project that teaches drawing straight lines, cutting and coloring between the lines.  It is a fun project that you can make for yourself or a friend!

American Flag 001Things you will need:

  • Scissors
  • Glue
  • Pencil
  • Ruler
  • Paper
  • Cardboard
  • Markers
  • Pin backs

American Flag 002Step 1: Using your pencil and ruler, draw a small American Flag onto a piece of white paper.  You can either trace a small rectangle or draw one free-hand.

American Flag 003Step 2: Using your scissors, cut the flag out and glue to a piece of cardboard.  A glue stick will work best to prevent bubbles from forming  in your paper.

American Flag 004Step 3: Using your scissors, cut the flag out.  Make sure your glue has dried.

American Flag 005Step 4: Using blue and red markers, color your flag in.  if you don’t have markers, crayons and paint also work.

American Flag 006Step 5: Using craft glue (not a glue stick), glue your pin back to the backside of your flag.  Let the glue dry.  If you do not have pin backs, tape a safety pin to the back of your flag instead.
